We have an exciting opportunity at HenderCare for an experienced Safety Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. The Safety Assistant is crucial to our organisation and is responsible for safeguarding of team members and service recipients of HenderCare.

About the Role

As the Safety Assistant you will support the implementation and maintenance of safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment. You will collaborate with team members within the Governance, Risk and Compliance Department as well as other colleagues within the organisation as needed to implement safety processes and to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.  

 

Some of your responsibilities will include: 

  • Conduct safety inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Monitor the Safety and Risk Assessment register, complete evaluations, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements, office inspections, and maintaining safety compliance for audits.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and updates of emergency response plans and related documents.
  • Implement a continuous improvement process in all operations in line with the organisation’s directives, including identifying systems and processes improvements.
  • Collaborate within the team to manage hazard incident reports on organisation’s Governance, Risk and Compliance software (ionMy) as required.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Safety with the ability to implement risk mitigation strategies. You will also possess a high level of time management skills and exceptional customer service is an absolute requirement as is the ability to multitask and work well in a high-pressure environment.

 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey safety procedures and navigate conversations with relevant stakeholders. 
  • High-level problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to navigate various internal systems effectively.

 

Highly advantageous if you hold a Certificate IV in Health and Safety or Occupation Health and Safety. A Fire Warden/First Aid Certification will be advantageous but not essential.
